Explore top medical colleges in Nepal with an India-like MBBS syllabus, English-medium teaching and no visa needed for Indian students.
Nepal has become a preferred destination for Indian students pursuing MBBS abroad, thanks to its India-like syllabus, English-medium teaching and open border. Medical colleges are affiliated with Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University or autonomous health academies, and admission is through Nepal's MECEE-BL entrance exam.
Medical colleges charge a fixed total fee for the full course, typically ranging between ₹63–75 lakh, paid in instalments. Students also benefit from busy teaching hospitals with a disease pattern similar to India's.
Indian students do not need a visa to study in Nepal, and families can visit easily by road or air. Familiar food, festivals and language make student life comfortable from day one.
Selecting the right university is a critical decision. Sukhada Global Education has compiled the following list of universities based on a thorough assessment of factors most important to Indian students - including availability of English-medium instruction, quality of clinical training, hostel and mess facilities, proximity to Indian communities, overall fee affordability, and institutional reputation:

Nepal's medical colleges fall into three groups: government colleges such as the Institute of Medicine, which have very few seats for Indian students; private colleges affiliated with Kathmandu University or Tribhuvan University; and autonomous academies such as PAHS and BPKIHS. Most Indian students join the private or autonomous colleges.
Course fees for foreign students are set by the affiliated university, which keeps them fixed and transparent. The degree is valid in India when the course meets NMC's FMGL 2021 rules, including at least 54 months of physical, on-campus study and a 12-month internship at the same institution.
With many colleges following a similar syllabus, finding the right college requires careful evaluation. Sukhada Global Education recommends this four-step approach:
